The weather was cool... about 60°... and slightly rainy, but we played on despite the conditions. It takes a lot to stop a golfer.
Then we came to this tee and we stopped...
There are a lot of Canadian geese around here and we ignore them. But a 5' tall bird is another story. And two 5' tall birds guarding their 3' tall chicks is another.
They were obstructions... and they were movable... but are you going to walk up to a 5' tall bird with a 10" pointed beak and move it? They were not exactly concerned about our presence, so we waited until they moved themselves a bit off to the side and then hit our tee shots... which didn't faze the birds at all.
Movable ObstructionA player may take relief without penalty from a movable obstruction as follows:
a. If the ball does not lie in or on the obstruction, the obstruction may be removed. If the ball moves, it must be replaced, and there is no penalty provided that the movement of the ball is directly attributable to the removal of the obstruction. Otherwise, Rule 18-2a applies.
