NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Stocks ended lower Tuesday, erasing session gains, after oil prices settled at a record $100.01 a barrel and gold and other commodities spiked, raising worries about how inflation will impact an already weakened economy.
Cold wave after cold wave... oil hits $100 per barrel and no energy plan to develop U.S. oil and natural gas reserves... politicians try to work out carbon offset schemes... Al Gore makes $100 million scaring kiddies... the sun may be cooling for awhile and lead to cooling on earth.
Could Monty Python come up with a more ridiculous story line? Could the Chinese who are developing two coal-fired power plants a week just be smarter than we are?

I've never in my entire life been as proud of our leaders as I am now...
