Dealing With China Is More Than Exporting Jobs

A Michigan company [check out their website] has recognized the growing importance of China in the world's economy in a slightly different way. Rather than outsourcing expertise, it is proposing that our next generation gain some expertise in dealing with Chinese firms and officials: Chinese language skills.

This is still new, but expect some big things soon. Many national chains are beginning to stock their books and I believe some schools are expressing interest. Obviously, these are meant as an introduction to Chinese.

But with the increasing importance of China as both an economic and military power, those in our next generation who have an understanding of that language will be in demand.
