It should not have been startling, but it somehow was; Governor Jennifer Granholm of Michigan is to be one of 17 advisers to President-elect Barack Obama on matters economic.
This is the same governor who wanted to increase Michigan's government budget and lay a new 6% service tax on its businesses and residents... a tax that was repealed the day before it was to go into effect when it became obvious to all that it would be a catastrophe piled on top of the calamity of Michigan's high unemployment and loss of businesses and manufacturing. Rather than actually cut the budget to align with the Michigan economy of the past 4 years, Governor Granholm sought to squeeze more dinars out of what was left. Now she brings this same philosophy of draining off productive resources to Washington... since it perfectly aligns with the new administration's stated goal of increasing taxes where the money and potential job creation resources exist.
Some change... bleck! Talk about eating your seed corn....
