The Playing Field Is Now Level

SEARCH BLOG: POLITICS

The election of Barack Obama as the next president of the United States should be reason enough to remove any and all racial and gender preferences from all public and private institutions.  If the senator from the state of Illinois is capable of working the system to reach the heights of prestige and power, then anyone can... and anyone who claims otherwise has not been in touch with the world over the past year.

Barack Obama has shown that success is a matter of personal choice and effort.  Those who choose to not seek success through the application of personal effort should not, under any circumstances, be given preferential treatment.  Man or woman, black, white, yellow or brown; it no longer makes any difference.  It is now up to the individual to be responsible for his or her own success or failure.

I have not and still do not agree with Barack Obama's political philosophy, but I must concede his effort and success, and given the results of the election must conclude that arguments for special consideration and special privileges based on any and all categorization are now specious.
We are now simply Americans and to claim allegiance to any cultural, racial, or sexual group or category is a false and subversive claim.  Obama has shown the Rev. Wright to be wrong.  Obama has shown Bill Ayers to be wrong.
Obama has shown that all who have argued against preferences and special interest are right.

Isn't that ironic?
