January 2009 Weather In Michigan

SEARCH BLOG: WEATHER

January in southeastern Michigan was significantly colder than normal.  Our local area came within 3°F of the all-time low for the month.  Image from Weather.com.

The month was more than 10°F colder than normal.

We rarely reached our normal high temperatures and our actual lows were well below the normal lows. We had only 4 days above 32°F and 9 days below 0°F

Over the last 12 months, this area has completely avoided the fearmongering ravages of global warming, which apparently is melting Antarctica at this very moment.  While this was certainly not good news for humans when their heating bills arrived, it does offer hope for the penguins now that they may lose their home at the South Pole. They can just move here. Oh, just do the search yourself... penguins endangered. Everything is endangered from global warming. Sure.

The average temperature in this area has been 3°F below normal for the past 12 months... most of it in the winter months... which has compounded survival problems for the poor, old, and weak.  Yet our new federal administration chooses to focus on the ethereal problem of global warming based on the ethereal issue of an ethereal substance... as opposed to the real world and real problems. Rather than ensure low cost electricity and fuel, our new administration chooses a course to make them even more expensive and even more difficult for those least able to cope.

Regardless, this officially goes down as the 11th warmest January since 1998 when Global Warming officially struck.   We have lost the adjective related to lack of warmth.

UPDATE

This unbelieveable editorial from the Detroit Free Press.  You can hit some people with a 2x4 of facts and they will still believe what their religion teaches.
