Thoughts For Congress

SEARCH BLOG: POLITICS and GOVERNMENT

As we enter into the July 4th holiday weekend, our U.S. Congressmen should consider these words:
We judge ourselves by what we feel capable of doing, while others judge us by what we have already done.
- Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
This nation was built on the foundation of personal freedom and limited government. This Congress is about to stand that foundation completely on its head. This Congress has already done more in that regard since the beginning of the year than it ever should have... and is about to drive dagger after dagger into the heart of the U.S. in the name of protecting us.
Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis (1898 - 1963)
