Global Warming Arrives In Michigan Today ... Then Pauses

SEARCH BLOG: WEATHER and GLOBAL WARMING

[NOTE: SEE TOMORROW'S LOOK AT THE U.S. HOUSE HEALTH CARE BILL]

The British are coming! The sky is falling! Global warming is upon us! Well, one of three isn't bad... for baseball.

The forecast for today indicates that we will experience our 2nd 90°F day this year. Talk of record high temperatures abound. No doubt we will read about how manatees will inhabit the Great Lakes in a few years as our newspapers grab the global warming reins again. For the record, here is our record for the past year and one-half through yesterday:

During that period, we have had 154 more days below normal than above or about 64% of the time. But this one hot day will mark the return of global warming in our media... which will then disregard the fact that weather returns to normal.

It appears that our record high temperature is in no danger [forecast and records charts from www.weather.com].

Note: low temperature this month is graphed incorrectly.

Our family will take this opportunity to head to the lake and spend some time on the boat and in the water. This summer has been pretty much a washout for those kind of activities with July being a continuation of June.
