Senate Health Care Bill Costs

SEARCH BLOG: HEALTH CARE

Another post was scheduled for this slot, but Bill contacted me with an email too full of links to get through quickly. Then he called and said it was very important to read this analysis of the Senate bill from PriceWaterhouseCoopers.

Below are images of the Key Findings and Executive Summary. You can click on the link above for the full document. Click on images for a larger view.

My reaction: gag!

...by 2019 the cost of single coverage is expected to increase by $1,000 more than it would under the current system and the cost of family coverage is expected to increase by $4,000 more than it would under the current system. This amounts to an additional 18 percent increase in the cost of health insurance coverage by 2019. [page 19]

Thanks for the information, Bill. You've made our day. Now just one more question: why has this become the most important issue... after the Climate Bill... oh, and after Afghanistan... and the Economic Stimulus....? By the way, how long is the Health Care bill and did anyone read it?
