Michigan's Hockey Stick Climate

With all of the attention on "Climategate," Michigan experienced the significant burden of global warming as November high temperatures resisted the normal decline into the lower 40s through the last half of the month [except for yesterday when it remained in the 30s]. Consequently, the polynomial trend analysis shows a remarkable similarity to other global temperature "hockey sticks":

We have already suffered seriously as golf courses remained busy until Thanksgiving disrupting family gatherings and interfering with football games. Our projections are that temperatures will continue to diverge from long-term averages and that the ratio of above average highs to below average lows will continue to increase, with values of about 20 to 1 by early 2010, and roughly 50 to 1 by late 2010.

Of course, I will have to run this by NCAR, but the implications are obvious.

... where there may be some ice available. Perhaps if they take the hockey sticks with them, our temperatures will return to normal.
