If I were a left-wing reporter, I would say something like this:"Last night at the Westland, Michigan AMVETS Memorial Hall, Rick Jarosz, a foaming-at-the-mouth right-wing radical, ranted on and on about the need to get everyone armed to the teeth in his anti-Supreme Court frenzy."Well, I'm not a left-wing reporter and that is not what happened.
Rick Jarosz gave about a 15-minute history of the 2nd Amendment and provided excellent context for understanding why the Amendment included the mention of a well-regulated militia and how that was different from the National Guard and how the tradition of an armed citizenry extended back into Medieval England.
While the left-wing may view gun owners as in the spoof paragraph at the top, Rick's point was that the founders of this country wanted to ensure that individuals always had the right to defend themselves and determined that this was an "unalienable" right.
Rick is a reserved... should I say "conservative"... person who sounds more like a law professor than a protester. His points were simply that the individual ownership of guns has been challenged many time and that... until the day that the Supreme Court simply fails to consider the 2nd Amendment as relevant... these challenges are without merit.
