No More July 4 Fireworks

SEARCH BLOG: DETROIT

The 4th of July is still more than a week away.  If you are planning to watch traditional parades and fireworks, try someplace other than Detroit.

Detroit used to have 4th of July celebrations, but then as a nod to its neighbors to the south [Canada, look at a map], the date for the fireworks sort of drifted around between Dominion Day [July 1] and Independence Day [July 4].

In the "Change" era, it is no long "cool" to celebrate our history.  So now Target, which sponsors the fireworks, celebrates the "Summer Solstice" instead.

Now when some Detroit 4-year old asks, "Why are there fireworks, daddy?" his daddy will answer with "I dunno; just shuddup and watch."
