Not-Nice Men Arrested

SEARCH BLOG: POLITICALLY CORRECT

The New York Times reported about the arrest of two New Jersey men; however, the article contained a number of terms that require political correction.
Two New Jersey men who were bound for Somalia to join an Islamic extremist anti-U.S. group and to kill oppose American troops were arrested at Kennedy International Airport late Saturday, federal and local authorities announced on Sunday.
The men, Mohamed Haoud Alessa, 20 and Carlos Eduardo Almonte, 24, were to join Al Shabaab, which claims ideological kinship an undefined relationship with Al Qaeda and which was thought to have provided a haven to Qaeda operatives wanted for bombings of actions against United States embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
Use of Middle Eastern or Hispanic sounding names should be avoided when describing individuals who have run afoul of the law.  Likewise, terms such as "Islamic extremist" should not be used as aptly demonstrated by Attorney General Eric Holder.  Inflammatory terms such as "bombings" should be replaced with more neutral phrases.

We're glad to be of assistance.
