Headline: New EPA Rule Could Shut Down A Ton Of The Nation's Power Plants [Let's presume there is some air quality benefit that vastly outweighs the loss of more than 14 gigawatts of power generation that serves 22 million households.]
Let's spell this out for you ... just in case by some inexplicable reason you don't see the obvious ... what this means: The United States government has its collective heads up their collective asses.Step 1: Mandate something for which you have no idea how it can be accomplished.
Step 2: Spend billions of taxpayer dollars backing solutions for that which you mandated which are so risky that you could not find a private investor stupid enough to use his own money.
Step 3: Burn your bridges behind you and hope for the best.
So, the government is mandating changes to our electrical grid that will result in less energy being available at a higher cost... and is trying to find the solutions for its mandate using taxpayer money in very questionable investments. See, government can do it better than private enterprise.
