2012 Election Issues

SEARCH BLOG: OBAMA and ROMNEY

The smoke has cleared from the Republican primary races even though there are more to go.  They are a formality: Mitt Romney will challenge Barack Obama in November.

Soooo... now the major issues will be addressed.  Nah, not really.

What will happen first is a series of diversions:
  • There will be talk about contraception and abortion.
  • There will be talk about Mormonism.
  • There will be talk about Martin and Zimmerman.
  • There will be talk about elitism and the poor starving.
But the real issues will float around in the background.  The real issues are too boring for television and radio and pop culture magazines.
Those are "red herrings."  Diversions from real issues.  Issues that crop up once every four years as regularly as the "Star Spangled Banner" at baseball games.  They add to the spectacle, but not to the real struggle at hand.

If you can divert enough people all of the time, you don't have to explain your record... or your positions.

But just in case they actually get around to real issues, here's a suggestion for the first one to address....
