This is too surreal. France goes socialist. France has chosen to mortgage their future on the hope of change. Their future will change, but it will not bring hope. France has already tried the 35-hour work week and get-it-for-free programs that eroded their economy. What will Francois Hollande come up with to top that? Increased spending? Bailouts? Expanded unemployment benefits?
That sounds familiar. Isn't that something that has worked really well in the U.S. the past three years?
Three or four years from now, France will deeply regret its choice as it flounders in massive spending and debt and the European Union teeters on the brink of dissolution. Don't look for the Germans to bail them out because even the normally responsible Germans are beginning to swing to the left. That's a bit odd given the economic success of the Germans, but perhaps insanity is contagious. [image]
