Bret Bielema Makes Horrendous Mistake

SEARCH BLOG: FOOTBALL.

From Yahoo Sports:

Bret Bielema leaves Wisconsin for Arkansas.

Wisconsin went from a 2nd tier football program to among the best under Barry Alvarez who is now Wisconsin's athletic director.  Bret Bielema carried on with that level of excellence as the replacement coach as he followed Alvarez' formula for football success.
A person familiar with the situation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the information hasn't been released publicly, says the deal is for six years and $3.2 million annually.
Financially, Bielema will do quite well.  But his reputation as a winning coach will suffer at Arkansas as he competes against Alabama, Florida, LSU, South Carolina, and Georgia.  He will be frustrated when he realizes that he cannot recruit the necessary talent to go to Fayetteville.  John L. Smith left Michigan State and found that out quickly.  Of course, Smith was of questionable talent at MSU.

Bielema will leave Arkansas a wealthy, but unhappy man.  Wisconsin's campus is a great place and the fans are fanatics.  Arkansas will have Walmart, however.
