Iran: Elections and Negotiating Are The Same Thing

SEARCH BLOG: IRAN

Some of you are old enough to have heard of ... or even heard ... The Kingston Trio. They had a fine little ditty that, in part, went something like this:
They're rioting in Africa,
There's strife in Iran,
What nature doesn't do to us,
Will be done by our fellow man.
No much has changed in the several decades since that was popular.

Iran has, once again, demonstrated its inexhaustible capability to make a mockery of anything to do with the establishment of a legitimate government. The theocratic thugs who run the country have no need for real elections or real negotiations. What they want, they get. They allow the people the futile exercise of voting; they will allow President Obama the futile exercise of negotiating.

There is only one realistic option for the U.S. in dealing with Iran and that is to actively undermine the theocratic structure by any means available... after we read them their Miranda rights, of course.
