Leaving Florida

SEARCH BLOG: TRAVEL

Another leg of our winter travels is ending today as we head back to Michigan.

It has been pleasant here... about the same temperatures we had in early February in San Francisco... the low 60s. Of course, don't say that to a Floridian.

I've had the opportunity to get in several rounds of golf and yesterday was, by far, the nicest day... about 70 degrees and crystal clear skies. As a lone walk-on, I usually join up with a twosome. Yesterday it was with a couple who have live all over the U.S. as the husband's job with 3M has required moves. Naturally, we talked about the weather.

This seems to have been a particularly unpleasant winter for the natives... and the golf courses. A snide remark about global warming only brought disgusted snickering. I presume that will continue as high temperatures for the mid-week in central Florida reach the dizzying heights of around 60 degrees. Still, I wouldn't mind trading the mid-30s in Michigan for that.

My golf game? The rust was falling off in buckets.
