Economy - Bad News Good News

Nonfarm payrolls fell by 131,000 last month as the rise in private-sector employment was not enough to make up for the government jobs lost, the U.S. Labor Department said Friday. Only 71,000 private-sector jobs were added last month while 143,000 temporary workers on the 2010 census were let go. [full story]
The combination of smaller government and larger private sector is a good thing.  It remains to be seen if this is a trend or an anomaly.  When you read between the lines, you see that in the Federal government, the layoffs were for temporary Census workers while the state governments were for full time workers.  Consequently, the goods news is not quite good news.  Uncle Sugar is still far too fat.
