Rahm Emanuel of "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste" fame, now is walking in the shoes of those he used to condemn and doesn't like it. [image]The Chicago Tribune reports:
Clark Street in front of CPS headquarters in the Loop is a sea of red-shirted teachers chanting and waving signs.
"Hey Rahm, how many kids in your child's classroom?" one sign read. Another said, "Use your outdoor voice."
"Hey, hey, ho, ho. Rahm Emanuel has got to go," they chanted.
Many in the peaceful crowd said they were surprised at how many teachers showed up to rally.
"This is an amazing display of democracy," said Rick Sawicki, a 7th grade teacher at Evergreen Middle School. "It is a wonderful lesson for children and adults alike. I'm honored that we are all sticking together. We all want what is fair. We want to make sure everyone is treated fairly, just like I teach my children."What happened to that liberal idealogue? Geez, even Paul Ryan is offering his support.
"Mayor Emanuel is right today in saying that this teacher's union strike is unnecessary and wrong," Ryan said in Portland, Ore., according to a pool report transcript. "We know that Rahm is not going to support our campaign, but on this issue and this day we stand with Mayor Rahm Emanuel."Imagine the outcry from Rahm Emanuel if he were still Obama's Chief of Staff and the mayor of Chicago were a Republican. It would have been "solidarity" all the way. Now he wants to negotiate because "this is a strike of choice" that is "unnecessary." If it is so "unnecessary" and Rahm is so reasonable, why did the teachers decide to go on strike for the first time in 25 years?
Could it be that Rahm only touts the liberal line when it benefits him? Looks like karma from here.
