U.N. Small Arms Treaty Designed To Prevent Legitimate Uprisings Against Onerous Governments

The United Nations is attempting to pass a small arms treaty under this pretext:
Insurgents, armed gang members, pirates, terrorists - they can all multiply their force through the use of unlawfully acquired firepower. The illicit circulation of small arms, light weapons and their ammunition destabilizes communities, and impacts security and development in all regions of the world. [SOURCE]By preying on our fears of terrorists and gangs and even pirates, the representative of such progressive regimes as Iran and Yemen and Cuba are trying to institutionalize the disarming of citizens to leave them powerless against such magnificent political systems.
Well, don't believe a word of it.
Whatever you may think of the so-called "Arab Spring" or even the American Revolution, the disarming of the populace has been the goal of every lead-penny dictator since governments were instituted. Stalin loved it. Hitler loved it. Apparently, there are some in our U.S. government who love that idea as well.
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.There are too many of our "enlightened" leaders... domestic and foreign... who really don't believe any of that and would roundly condemn those who do. Over 200-years ago, they were called Loyalists or Tories. Today they are called "representatives" or "government officials." They feel threatened by any power that may oppose them. They feel threatened that an armed populace is an uncontrollable populace. They bemoan the fact that the Bill of Rights are "negative rights" ... what the government can't do. They will do whatever it takes to dilute those rights in the name of "security and safety."
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
As our esteemed President lamented:
“But,” Obama said, “The Supreme Court never ventured into the issues of redistribution of wealth and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society. And to that extent as radical as I think people tried to characterize the Warren Court, it wasn’t that radical. It didn’t break free from the essential constraints that were placed by the founding fathers in the Constitution, as least as it’s been interpreted, and Warren Court interpreted in the same way that generally the Constitution is a charter of negative liberties, says what the states can’t do to you, says what the federal government can’t do to you, but it doesn’t say what the federal government or the state government must do on your behalf. And that hasn’t shifted.” [source]... what the Federal government "must do on your behalf" ... or, what he really meant, what the Federal government can do to you?
It isn't a tax; it's a penalty. It isn't a penalty; it's a tax. Shut up and pay us and forget about all of those rights. The government now determines what it can do to you. Bend over for your health check.
