Marching For Legitimacy

Thousands of people marched today in Chicago to legitimize pedophilia... I mean illegal immigrants... I knew something was illegal.

“A lot of people in the U.S. call themselves Americans, but they forget their heritage — their parents and grandparents were immigrants too,” said Apolinar Marin, 29, who manages a car wash in the Chicago suburbs.

“We think we are being treated unjustly,” said his wife Esmeralda, 30, who is an interpreter in a high school. “A lot of our people can’t express themselves because of the language, but it does not mean that they don’t care.

The general theme of the rally was that immigrants as a group work hard and that changes are needed to make it easier for them to get the papers needed to legalize their status.

Well, what if pedophiles are hard workers? Should we make it easier for their actions to be declared legal?

If you do something illegal should you be rewarded?

How about a system that rewards immigrants who come in legally? Perhaps a more streamlined guest worker programs that rewards those who apply and register and keep up proper notification of status changes?

Don't make the guest workers pay a fee; make the employer pay a fee!

...and quickly deport any foreigner who doesn't follow the law and make certain they can't get in again legally or otherwise by imposing an automatic jail sentence followed by deportation for subsequent offenses.

Go home now and try again... legally.

Oh, just one other issue. There is a growing discord between blacks and recent Mexican immigrants in places like Los Angeles. Listen to Los Angeles black radio show host, Terry Anderson.

July 21, 2007 My guess is that if there is an interest rate change, a cut is more likely than an increase. The key variables to be watching at this point are real estate prices and the inventory of unsold homes.

January 17, 2008 A few days ago, Anna Schwartz, nonagenarian economist, implicated the Federal Reserve as the cause of the present lending crisis [from the Telegraph - UK]:
The high priestess of US monetarism - a revered figure at the Fed - says the central bank is itself the chief cause of the credit bubble, and now seems stunned as the consequences of its own actions engulf the financial system. "The new group at the Fed is not equal to the problem that faces it," she says, daring to utter a thought that fellow critics mostly utter sotto voce.
January 22, 2008 The cut has become infected and a limb is in danger. Ben Bernanke is panicking and the Fed has its emergency triage team cutting rates... this time by 3/4%. ...

What should the Federal Reserve do now? Step back... and don't be so anxious to raise rates at the first sign of economic improvement.
Individuals and businesses need stability in their financial cost structures so that they can plan effectively and keep their ships afloat. Wildly fluctuating rates... regardless of what the absolute levels are... create problems. Either too much spending or too much fear. It's just not that difficult to comprehend. Why has it been so difficult for the Fed?
